Budget Highlights

  • The Government of Assam has announced 8 new schemes under the dynamic 18 flagship schemes model,  Astadash Mukutar Unnoyonee Mala. A few of the new schemes announced are Affordable Nutrition and Nourishment Assistance Yojana (ANNA),Gyan Deepika, Asom Darshan, etc.  
  • A new scheme, Bhasha Gaurav Achoni with a budget of Rs.50 crores in 2019-20 has been announced to promote research on individual tribal languages, bring out dictionaries, books, encyclopedias, etc. in tribal languages.
  • A special package for Integrated Development of Majuli Island (PIDMI) has been initiated with Rs.50 crores being earmarked for this year and a total allocation of Rs. 150 crores in the medium term.
  • Formation of a Beneficiary Data Hub for Assam to ensure that benefits reach to the most deserved sections of the population
  • A State Level Mega Skill Development Scheme has been announced with an aim to provide comprehensive skill training to 50000 youths in the state during the fiscal year  2019-20. An amount of Rs. 77 crores has been earmarked for it in this year’s budget.
  • Incentives have been announced for Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) and General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) in rural areas with an aim to address the high rates of IMR and MMR. Through this initiative an allowance of Rs.1500 per month for every GNM and Rs.750 per month for every ANM will be given.
  • Announcement for Creation of Development Corporation for indigenous Muslims aimed at holistic development of this section of society including self employment activities, provisioning banking linkages, etc.
  • Special Grants have been announced for the VIth Scheduled Areas with a sum of Rs. 1000 crores promised to the Bodoland Territorial Council for a period of 3 years.
